Hello.

i have just bought a license for Imatch.. then the soft asked me to download and install a new version.
All seemed to be fine as all the folders and pictures were there and after waiting a while, i could see the keywords too. BUT when i add a new folder with new pictures in windows it is not visible in imatch ... This never happened with the free trial version .
Can someone help me to correct that?

Welcome to the wonderful world of IMatch!

When you want to add a new folder with images to your IMatch database, don't use Windows to do it, use IMatch.

I struggled with the exact same thing a week ago, I got to the point that I had already written a bug report on this when I found the solution. It's a setting which is different between the trial version and the licensed version.

Go to preferences, Indexing and enable "Advanced file system monitoring".

Maybe it should have been reported as a bug as it's a bit strange that this setting is different in the trial and licensed version.

IMatch automatically detects new and updated files in folders you manage in the database and resans them automatically.

When you add a new sub-folder outside of IMatch to a folder indexed by your database, IMatch does not automatically add the folder to the database. This is the expected behavior. IMatch indexes only the folders you explicitly add to the database, and the files within.

To add new sub-folders you have created outside of IMatch, select the parent folder in the Media & Folders View and press Shift+F5 to start a rescan.

IMatch also does not automatically remove files or folder you rename or move outside of IMatch from the database. This avoids data loss when you move or rename folders outside of IMatch and gives you the opportunity to relocate  the moved/renamed folders and retain the information (metadata, ...) for the folders and files.

If you delete folders or files outside of IMatch, rescan the parent folder with <Shift>+<F5> to tell IMatch to remove them.

In general, you have a DAM now. Use the powerful File Management features in IMatch to create, delete, copy and move files and folders. This allows IMatch to keep your database in-sync with the file system automatically.

This setting is off by default, since it may have unwanted side-effects.
Make sure you read the information in the help page to understand what this feature does and whether or not you want to enable it.

There is no difference in settings between the trial version and the licensed version. The trial version creates the settings database when it runs for the first time. And when you later install a licensed version it uses the same settings database.

There is a difference between the trial and the licensed version. With the trial version the blue circle arrow appeared when folders was added externally, but this stopped after switching to the licensed version.

Not that I would know of. The licensed version does not recreate the settings database. And the folder scan feature and settings work the same.

The advanced folder scan option is off in the initial settings, just checked. And it is only manipulated via Edit > Preferences > Indexing.

Note: that the blue "refresh" icon appears is normal when you add folders outside of IMatch, since Windows sends a "Folder Modified" event and IMatch reacts on that. IMatch will scan the folder to check if there are new or updated files. But it will not remove off-line folders/files and neither add new folders.

I shall add a new note to the IMatch Onboarder to inform new users when IMatch detects this situation.
IMatch now displays a banner with detailed information when it finds new sub-folders to help new users.

Hello .
Thank you for your help . I will use the internal folder manager next time or rescan the parent folder as you told me (and it works perfectly) .
Have good times everybody.
