Is it possible to export or import just a single or a few layouts using the import/export dropdown in the Layout editor?  I wanted to export 4 or 5 specific layouts and then import one specfic layout.   It won't let me select more than one layout at a time.  Do I have to select each layout one at a time and then import each one?

I did a Macrium backup of this system.imfwl and if I restore from an earlier date I won't be able to save specific layouts.  I wanted to export "Result Window: Show Date and File Size Difference" so I could restore my older Layouts from a Macrium backup and then import this single layout.  It is now greyed out in my list.

You can export either one File Window layout or all in one go. It is not possible to export two or three, AFAIK. Personally, I have separate exports for each of my own layouts, just as an additional backup.

When you import an imfwl file, IMatch will always import all layouts contained in the file. If you have already some layouts in the list, you might end up with duplicates. However, there is a neat little trick Mario mentioned in this post, in case you want to start fresh with system.imflw and just add or replace one layout:
  • First, export each layout (with the exception of unmodified standard ones) you want keep into a separate imfwl file.
  • Use "Import layouts", choose the system.imfwl you want to import (maybe out of your backup) and hold Ctrl when leaving the File Selector. This way, all layouts are first cleared and then imported from the imfwl. So, no duplicates anymore.
  • Now you might want to delete the"Result Window: Show Date and File Size Difference" layout and the reimport it from you saved version.

To export only some layouts, delete all the layouts you don't want to export. Export, then close the dialog with CANCEL. This way you keep all your layouts. Easy ;)

If you click on OK instead to close the layout editor, you're in a doomed.
If you are unsure, export all your layouts before to have a backup! No risk at all.

Got it.

I have a layout I renamed called "amikesDefault" (atch1) and it shows up when I open Layout Editor.  But when I hit the dropdown to use it, its missing (atch2).  Is there a reason I don't see it?

Thanks!

The number of layouts elements to show in this menu is limited to 30. You probably have too many layouts.
Use the name to create an order to see your 30 most important layouts in this menu. The others can be accessed via the Control Palette by searching for layout.

I have increased the limit to 40 layers, considering the slightly less waste layout my ribbon menus have compared to the 3rd party UI library and increasing screen heights.
