I'm just beginning to explore the AutoTagger functions in IMatch 2025, and have begun to go through the helpful and extensive information about AutoTagger in the IMatch help file.

BUT -- Do I have to restart Ollama after every re-boot?  If  I don't run the full Ollama installer after a reboot, IMatch tells me that AutoTagger "cannot reach the 'Ollama' AI" and that I must "restart the local AI."

How do I do that, without running the entire Ollama installer every time?  Is there a way to make the Ollama AI stick?

By default, Ollama starts automatically when Windows starts. It consumes very little resources, unless actually used.
Maybe something on your system (virus checker) prevents that somehow?

Open Windows Task Manager (Shift + Ctrl + ESC) and switch to the "Startup Apps" tab.
There should be an entry for ollama.exe with the status enabled.

This makes it start automatically.
If this entry does not exist, Ollama failed to register itself for this, probably caused by a virus checker or something on your computer.
You can just search for ollama in the START menu to run it in that case.
