Checkered Flag

I have been modifying some images using EXIF and changing dates.  I have noticed that the checkered flag is appearing in the Image icon area even though I have not clicked on it or set it myself.. 

From reading other questions that were answered here in the forum it was my understanding that this was a user flag.

Is this Flag set by IMATCH when something has changed in the database?

It will be if you have configured it under preferences - indexing - updated files.
Otherwise not AFAIK.
I don't see a flag here when I change files.....

This flag is a normal collection and not set by IMatch automatically. There is also no metadata which fills the flag so it cannot be changed by changing metadata.
