Please split panels "Media & Folder", "Categories", "Timeline" from the thumbnail grid so that we could reposition panels independently.
I would be also nice to be able to switch the  thumbnail grid to a filmstrip which could save a lot of screen space in some situations.
Automatic panel hiding would be also welcomed.

What's the difference between a file window one row high and a film strip? Do you mean a file window without a toolbar and the caption bar? Where would the information normally shown there be displayed?

That's already implemented. When you set a panel to auto-hide (via the little pin button in it's caption) it will automatically hide as soon as you set focus to another window.

Yes and the filmstrip is properly resized so that the whole thumbnail raw is vertically properly displayed. The vertical scrollbar also has no sense in the filmstrip.
