I don't know, whether I'm in the correct board.
After having restored my database, I imported all new files. Optimizing and analysing reported no mistakes - everything was ok. I made a backup.
When I started IM5 today, I got the error shown on the attached jpg. Klick on ok, start again and no error. This is reproducable.
Closing database, I'm told, that mistakes are reported in the logfile. I'll attach it as well.
After that backup after perfect optimization I didn't start IM5, nothing wrong happened with my HDDs.

I think the error messages says it all.

IMatch cannot write to the settings database

C:\ProgramData\photools.com\IMatch5\config\imatch5.pts

Most likely it is write-protected or the user under which you run IMatch has no write access to that file. Check the file privileges of that file in Windows Explorer.

Ne Mario, das ist es doch: Die Datei ist nicht schreibgeschützt (jeder darf alles) und wird auch angepackt und aktualisiert.
Ich bestätige diese Fehlermeldung, starte IM5 erneut, es gibt keine Fehlermeldung und IM5 startet normal.
Ich schließe IM5 (die pts hat die aktuelle Uhrzeit), starte IM5 erneut und bekomme wieder diese Fehlermeldung. Das lässt sich beliebig oft wiederholen. Die Datenbank befindet sich übrigens auf einem anderen Laufwerk - aber das wird nichts damit zu tun haben, nehme ich an.
Es gibt eben unendlich viele Zustände zwischen 0 und 1.

Das log file enthält:

Physical database damage: 'database disk image is malformed'

Die PTS-Datei ist kaputt. Einfach löschen, IMatch legt eine neue an.
