PTETWrapper error while writing Metadata

Hello,

after updating the IM5 Version to .18, I received the message that there was a new version of Exiftool available, and proceeded to update.

Afterwards, I did a couple of changes to my preferences ,including setting the automatic Metadata writeback.

I then noticed that IM5 started to write metadata (no surprise, I thought..)

But that was a long time ago ;-)

Then I saw that the activity monitor was showing "17 files of 96.000 processed" and that it WOULD TAKE OVER 500 hours!!

so.. I lokked for a problem in the log file.

It seems that the PTWRAPPER is the problem.

here a small excerpt of the log file.

Mario, I will send you an e-mail with the complete log file and one JPG file which appears in the log as having had a problem.

F:\2000\04-Abril\Mog Normando\2_zoom.jpg

First question: how can I stop the writeback?
Second: if the only way is closing IM5, will images  be marked as having being updated, if they have not?

Thanks a lot,

ExifTool is hanging. IMatch abandons it after 180 seconds and starts a new instance.
Please ensure that your virus checker is not considering ExifTool a thread and blocking it's execution. This is often the case.
All files not having been written will remain in the write-back queue. If you have problems like this writing back files, disable background write back and write back files individually to learn more about why the system is behaving this way. Maybe the F: disk is not responding? Maybe a virus checker is blocking ExifTool...

The full log file will not tell me more. I can only see that ExifTool is not processing and that it does not respond for 180 seconds.

I could find no problem reading or writing metadata from the sample file provided.
If you cannot reproduce the problem on your system, this specific failure may have many potential sources. No real way to reproduce this.
