Hi,

Subject: IMatch 5 performance

We have IMatch 5 installed on the same machine on which we run IMatch 3.6. (AMD Athlon Quad, windows 7)

The database in IMatch 3.6 is almost 2 GB and the program is running fine.

The database in IMatch 5 is 1 GB and the software became so slow that we cannot use IMatch 5 with this database.

IMatch 5 still runs fine with a small database.

Are there suggestions on how we can solve the issue?

Thanks for your time and attention,

Michael

IMatch 5 is still in Beta test and performance evaluation and optimization is part of that.
IMatch 5 can do a lot more, and this comes at a price. My goal is to make IMatch 5 as fast as IMatch 3, or faster. Search operations, for example, are often an order of magnitude faster than in IMatch 3.

A 1 GB database is not much.

+ What is slow?
+ For example, loading IMatch?
+ Switching folders or categories?
+Search operations?
+ How many files does your database have?
+ Is your database on a local disk or a network?

(To have a log file in debug mode (Help > Support > Debug Logging)) would give me most of this information.

Did you run a Database menu > Tools > Compact command to optimize the database, or a database diagnosis?

IMatch 5 uses a new file extension (.imd5). Did you exclude it in your virus checker? Or better, exclude the folder containing the database from your virus checker.
