Configurable Timeline

Hello All,
I'm missing a way to sort my Files within the timeline.

1. The problem I see is that all Files are imported automatically into the timeline, even there are files which just disturb me like DVD's, MP3, ...
2. Some video formats held the correct Date in e.g. {File.MD.H264::MDPM\24\DateTimeOriginal\0}, but Imatch does not care about it.
3. Fies which do not even have a fix Date just get imported on the wrong date. Better not import them at all.

Therefore Im opening a feature request for a configurable timeline, where I can configure the included file formats and the corresponding file Date.

Right now I have the following Dates figured out at least for me:

a.) Pictures_JPG-TIF-CR2-AVI-BMP-mpg  --> XMP::exif\DateTimeOriginal\DateTimeOriginal\0                   or                      Create Date
b.) Files_gpx-kml-bin-pdf-psd-mp4         --> Composite\CreateDate\CreateDate\0
c.) Office_docx                                        --> Composite\DateTimeOriginal\DateTimeOriginal\0
d.) Videos_MP4-MOV                              --> QuickTime::MediaHeader\1\MediaCreateDate\0
e.) Videos_MTS                                       --> H264::MDPM\24\DateTimeOriginal\0

This is something which I already requested during the Betatest but I could not find it anywhere.

Thanks for any comments
Frank

Please see the corresponding section in the help to see which date and time fields IMatch uses  for the various file types.

Hi Mario,
I read this topic since the betatest and in my database I have problems with many files. Therfore I created dynamic categories instead of using the Timeline.

I would really like to use the timeline and therefore the feature request is about.

IMatch uses various 'special' timestamps, e.g. for images, PDF, office, audio, video etc.
For example, it uses QuickTime timestamps or PDF timestamps or Office timestamps. For images it uses EXIF or XMP.
If you have a file for which IMatch does not find a proper date and time, you can set the XMP date to re-align it in the time line.
You can also upload the file somewhere so I can check which timestamps it contains, and what the corresponding standard/vendor info says about which time stamps the file should have and when and how  to use them. The code which extracts time stamps from metadata to be used as the "File Date and Time" is already very complex and has tons of special branches for various flavors of metadata. As said in the help, you can always override this with XMP.
