recovery scenario

After having a backup drive fail on me I was pondering some disaster recovery situations and this situation occurred to me:

My Imatch db and image catalog are on two separate drives.   What if my image drive failed, and my most recent backup image of that drive also failed forcing me to recover from an older backup image (say, a week old).   Suppose I have been doing a lot of metadata work and write-backs during that week.  Now I have an Imatch db that is current in that it reflects the last week of work, and an image drive whose images reflect the state of the images (metadata) from a week ago.

Is there a way to get imatch to rescan the images, but preserve the data in the database over the outdated data in the images from the old backup (which would require re-creating the pending write-backs from the past week) ?
