Hi Mario,

this is a follow up to the following bug report: https://www.photools.com/community/index.php?topic=4351.msg29479#msg29479

I would like to ask for some advancements for the eMail export module, most important a better ui responsiveness.

Advancements:

  • Sending 3 eMails (9MB) takes about 1 minute on my laptop and freezes the iMatch gui ("not responding..."). The progress bar stays at "15 seconds" . all the time. This should be improved.
  • The last (or several last) eMail adresse(s) "To" should be saved for an easier selection.

I love the eMail export module, since it makes use of the batch processor before sending eMails.

Alternative solution:
An alternative solution would be some kind of mechanism to drag&drop eMails to my external eMail client, but allowing the iMatch batch processor to be automatically run before the pictures get attached to the eMail.

Attachement:
Log file (debugging mode) while sending 3 pictures (iMatch 5.4.2).

Thanks,
Ben

The sending call takes almost a minute on your system. Whoops. The attachments are only about 3 MB!
It is not interruptible.

Implementing this feature request will be expensive, unfortunately. I will need to replace the email sending library I use now with something that gives me more control over the "send" call, allowing me to somehow interrupt it or at least keep some UI going. I need to find a new library, maybe even pay annual royalties and support fees for it, study how it works, find out how to implement it in IMatch, then change the existing code to use th new library and implement the changes in the UI. I would say 2 to 5 days of work, depending on various things. Quite a lot... Let's see how many likes this gets.
