Include sidecar file when copying master image outside IMatch

When copying an image onto an external resources like a folder or USB-drive not linked to IMatch, the copy action (Ctrl-C, right-click drag and drop) will copy the image file but not the corresponding sidecar (XMP) file.

Can IMatch be set up to include the buddy file for these actions?

You cannot copy from IMatch to a folder not included in your database.

Do you perhaps copy a file into the clipboard in IMatch and then paste it in a Windows Explorer window? Or drag files from IMatch to an Explorer window?
This cannot work with buddy files.

When you copy files into the clipboard in IMatch or drag files within IMatch, IMatch copies only the current selection into the clipboard. The receiving feature/function/panel in IMatch decides whether or not it should also process buddy files or versions. It dynamically retrieves the buddy files and/or versions for the files in the clipboard from the database. It depends on the feature or functionality you paste the files into whether inclusion of buddy files and relation makes sense.

This mechanism can obviously not work when you drag files out of your database into Windows Explorer. Windows Explorer cannot know about buddy files.

And IMatch cannot just include the buddy files and versions when it copies files into the clipboard. Consider a user dragging a selection of images from a file window to Photoshop or another image editor. He clearly expects that only the image files are opened in Photoshop, and not buddy files, XMP files or whatever.

The only option would be a specialized copy to / move to feature. IMatch 3 had something similar, but it was (based on feedback) so rarely used that I did not consider it useful to add such a functionality to IMatch 5.
