I just stumbled across the IPTC.org website, which seems to have been updated and enhanced since the last time I saw it. A few things of note:

- They're holding their annual meeting in Berlin toward the end of October, and have set aside an entire Video Day to discuss their proposed new Video Metadata Hub Recommendation. Maybe there's some hope after all for some common video metadata standards? Apparently one can get an individual IPTC membership for a mere (!) 200 Euros annually...

- I hadn't realized that they published their updated Photo Metadata Standard last year: http://www.iptc.org/std/photometadata/specification/IPTC-PhotoMetadata There's a lot of information on their website about all this. I suppose the most important thing for folks like me is the definitions of what the various metadata tags are, including for things that have been discussed here in the Community such as Locations Created vs Location Shown. There's mention in the standard about mapping, which I suppose is where the Metadata Working Group will come in again in the future(?).
