Persons layer annotations not visible

Hi,
currently using IMatch 5.7.2. I added some images to IMatch that were face tagged in Lightroom and I see in Viewer that the face tags were imported by IMatch because when I toggle annotations in viewer (A,E) and hover mouse over faces I see people's names - however in no way I can make the annotations regions (the green rectangles) visible.

How am I supposed to make the green rectangles with names visible in Viewer or Quick Viewer?

Also, if I plan to use face tagging in Lightroom and face annotations in IMatch, what option am I supposed to set in Metadata 2 XMP Region Format: Proprietary Adobe Lightroom Format or MWG Format?

Mario

Have you enabled the display of annotations in the Viewer  (Context menu > display options > Show Annotations) or press <A> then <E>.?

The setting in Metadata 2 is a left-over from the development process of the 5.7.2. It does not do anything.

Yes, I enabled the display of annotations both in Quick Viewer (A) and the Viewer (A,E), switched it on and off many times - still no green frames nor tags visible.

Mario

Works here without a problem.

I understand that you see the face tag tooltips when you move the mouse over the image in the Viewer, but the Viewer is unable to display the border?
Very strange, that's a new one.

Since you are the first person reporting this and many users have already commented on the much improved face annotation support in the Viewer, I assume that this is a very isolated problem. Maybe it happens only on your computer.

Do you have this with all images?
Do other annotations work?
Can you please show me a screen shot of the Annotation Panel in the Viewer, wen a file is open that has face annotations?

OK, I've found a workaround, sort of.

My laptop has two graphic cards: an integrated one (Intel HD Graphics 3000) and Nvidia Quadro (notebook) 2000M.
I've set the system in a way that IMatch does not use the Nvidia card and the annotations are visible now! I am using the newest Nvidia driver available (375.63).

I'll investigate Nvidia settings further and let you know. What is interesting, when I evaluated IMatch several months ago, I remember there was no problem with the annotations.

Mario

I test IMatch on systems with nVidea, Intel and ATI cards.

If your Notebook has a secondary GPU for graphics acceleration, many things in your system are special, from firmware to drivers. IMatch uses Windows DirectX 11+ to render images in the viewer, and Windows GDI and GDI+ to render other parts of the UI. If the lines for the face annotations don't show, other Annotations should also fail (you did not answer my questions from above so far). In that case, the DirectX version on your system does not work properly, or or the graphics driver does not work properly.

As to the other annotations: I didn't use other annotations before so wasn't really sure if they worked or not - now I see that when IMatch is using NVidia Quadro, no annotations are visible at all. They can be added and (blindly) edited however they are not visible.

As to the DirectX and GDI - I'll try to update everything I can. So far manipulating application setting in Nvidia control panel didn't help.

Mario

I recall (dimly) some other issue in the Viewer which was also related to the unique Intel/nVidea dual GPU setup. I cannot remember anymore what this was, sorry.

Does IMatch report any problems in the log file (Help > Support > View Application Log File).
Search for lines containing E> or W>.

I switched the Nvidia GPU on and ran IMatch (so that annotations are not visible) - no lines in error log with E> or W>...

Mario

This means that IMatch does not get errors or warnings back from DirectX. It seems Windows and DirectX think everything is OK - just Windows fails to render the vector graphics using GDI+.
