I'm trying to create categories that refer to folders using the @Folder approach.

However, I can not get it to work following these instructions:

1. Create one 'Aviation' category as the root.
2. Switch to Media & Folders, select the folders you want to be in that category.
3. Left-click and drag them to the Categories tab at the top and hold for a few seconds. IMatch switches to the Category View.
4. Now move the mouse to 'Aviation' and release the left mouse button.
5.In the dialog, choose Create category with a folder formula.

edit: using IMatch2017.7.4

Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Works for me as described. Could you please detail what exactly does not work? Maybe a screenshot would alo be helpful.

Thanks for the response...

...here's a screenshot of how far I can go following the instructions.

The instant a selection is made [in this case, create cat with a folder formula], the window closes with no results.

note - my folders contain various file types; not images...could this be my issue?

Thanks again!

Try to update to the latest version (2017.7.6). In the release notes, there is an entry:
QuoteThe formula parser does not properly parse certain formulas, involving @Folder etc. Fixed for this release.
This may also affect the Category @Builder.

Sounds like this might be the issue.

Now, how about that!

Thanks for the suggestion...now works as expected.

It's like Mario knew I was going to try this today, knowing it wouldn't work, but had a fix already waiting in the wings.
Thanks Mario and again, thanks Thorsten
