XMP file only

I'm a Lightroom user looking for an image organizer that plays well with the xmp files created by Lightroom.
So I downloaded the trials version of IMatch and I think it might just what I'm looking for.

My problem is that IMatch by default is saving metadata to the image file?
I would prefer that IMatch only update the xmp file. I have search both the web and settings in IMatch without luck.

Any help is appreciated :)

IMatch and Adobe Lightroom cooperate very well. IMatch also cooperates with all other standard applications, video, audio and RAW processors.

See Using AdobeĀ® Lightroom and IMatch together in the IMatch knowledge-base for more information and useful tips.

Please make sure that you understand why and under which conditions IMatch is writing to the RAW file, and why it has too.
I have explained this in great detail in the metadata topic in the IMatch help system. Check out the metadata-related help topics.

IMatch supports and implements the rules and recommendations of the Metadata Working Group (MWG). This guarantees the best possible metadata quality, consistency and interoperability. Many rules of the MWG deal with how XMP and EXIF/ITPC/GPS data must be mapped during updates. The XMP data in the sidecar file contains many copies of data stored in the EXIF, IPTC and GPS records in your RAW file. it is very important to keep this data synchronized, which is why IMatch updates the RAW file as well as the sidecar.

Updating only the XMP record in the sidecar file is possible, but it will let the XMP record become different than the  metadata in the RAW file. This is a very, very bad idea in general and can have dire consequences.

If you so far have used only Lighrtoom - many of this may be new to you. Adobe "shields" its users from many things, by dumbing everything down, hiding metadata from users and by not caring very much for the "non-Adobe world". IMatch is a proper DAM and it sticks to the standards so you can rely on your metadata on all platforms and with all software.

One possibility is here, see attachement. Read in the Help about Metadata and MWG.

Markus, making changes on this level requires an in-depth knowledge of metadata, typical workflows. That's specialist stuff.

I did not mention this in my answer intentionally because it allows you to shot yourself in your foot big time.
