Hello,

when you mark a picture as "read only", you can still (accidently) modify its attributes and categories.

Hence my question : is there a way to make it impossible to change anything of a picture ?

I noticed that you can make the whole database "read only", but this is going to far.  I would like to make a set of pictures froozen while continuing to work on others.

Thanks,

Peter

The "make an image read-only" is the same as the "make read-only" in Windows Explorer. It sets the read-only flag for the image in the file system. This has nothing to do with categories, metadata or Attributes.

IMatch is all about working with metadata and there are no features to prevent an user from modifying categories, Attributes or metadata. And you can always use the Edit > Undo command it happens.

Tips:

If you are in the habit to accidentally change collections like flags or bookmarks by clicking in the wrong spit in the file window -> switch to a layout which does not show the collection icons.
If you accidentally modify Attributes, just keep the Attributes panel closed until you need it.
If you accidentally modify Metadata, just hide or close the Metadata/Keyword Panels. Or the Category Panel.

This greatly reduces the risk to change anything by accident.
You can configure a dedicated workspace which hides all of these panels and then switch between this workspace and your "edit things" workspace as needed.
