Protected files - again

My db has 46 files that seem to be permanently protected even though I don't know what I did to protect them. When I display them as a collection in categories mode, attempt to toggle the protection with shift+P - no joy. Displayed in media & folders, same result.

Like the guy from the end of 2015, I have no use for protection. What now?

Do you have the option "View > Protected files Visible" activated? If not, please do so. Otherwise you can not unprotect you files. See the help for "Protected files":

You can only un-protect files when the display of protected files is enabled. Protection files is possible in either state.

Most likely you toggled the protection of some files by accident (pressing Shift+Ctrl+P) and then forgot about it.
To show the files again go to View > Protected Files. Then select the protected files (e.g. in the corresponding collection) and press Alt+Shift+P to unprotected them.
