Visual Proxy confusion

I

I have Canon CR2 files and derived .jpg files, they are stacked in the file window so only the proxy .jpg thumbnail is displayed.
According to the rules stated in Version Help:

"A visual proxy ('As Visual') is used instead of the master file whenever the file is to be displayed, e.g., in the Viewer, the Slide Show or the Quick View Panel". (see VersionHelp screenshot).
I confirmed that the proxy .jpg is being displayed in the slide show and the Quick View panel, but the Viewer was showing the master CR2 which was incorrect according to the above rules.

But then I found in Visual Proxy Help :
"The Viewer by default does not show the visual proxy you have configured for an original file via versioning. The idea is that the viewer shows the original file for review purposes. You can toggle the display of the visual proxy via the T,X keyboard shortcut" (see VisualProxyHelp screenshot).
So now I have pressed T,X once the Viewer now displays the proxy every time even after a restart.
When toggling T,X there is no way of knowing which image you are viewing because the image file name displayed at the bottom is always that of the master.

I suggest that in the Viewer panel and possibly also in the Slide Show, Quick View panel and file window that the file name is followed by an indication that the proxy image is being used.
