I am trying to make iMatcgh show jpgs for all my raw file sthat have been edited in LR, following the suggestions on https://www.photools.com/3172/adobe-lightroom-imatch-5/ and the help section, but I must be overlooking something somewhere because so far all I can see are the unedited raw files.

I set up the file relations (see screenshot). I tested a few of them and they came up green. I then went to Commands > Relations > Refresh relations and refreshed, but nothing has changed. Am I missing something here?

Mario

Hi,

Quotemake iMatcgh show jpgs for all my raw file sthat have been edited in LR

It's not really clear to me what you mean by 'show'. I assume are are trying to make JPEG files versions of your RAW files?
You did not attach a screen shot so we have to wait until you give us more details, like the RAW format you are using, where the corresponding JPEG files are stored (same folder, sub-folder,...?) and what your file relation definition looks like.

Sorry. The road to hell is paved with good intentions. I have added the screenshot as an attachment (how does one insert an image? The "insert image" button only adds img /img tags).

I am trying to make iMatch show developed jpgs for my raw files, as suggested in "See Your Files in IMatch as in Lightroom."

Mario

You did not explain what the actual problem is, only what you are trying to do...

You have highlighted a BUDDY file relation in your screen shot.
Buddy relations will make sure that IMatch renames, copies, moves and deletes the JPEG files at the same time as the master RAF.
Is this what you are trying do do? If not, what are you trying to do?

Do you want to setup a version to be a visual proxy for the master RAF? So the RAF looks like the JPEG file?
In that case you need to setup a VERSION relation which makes the JPEGs the versions of the RAF files. And also enable the visual proxy option in the Versions tab.

I am indeed trying to set up a version to be a visual proxy for the master RAF. The help file is not very clear: "You can create two types of relation definitions: Buddy definitions just describe how to find buddy files for a given master file. Version definitions include additional options."

Does setting up a version relationship still require me to set up a buddy relationship as well if I want to keep the files together?

Mario

Yes. Versions and buddy files are unrelated by design. You may want to have buddy files without versioning (often) or versioning without buddy files (also often).
To use visual proxies, you need a version relation. See Visual Proxy

Mmm, I think I must still have done something wrong. The files show up correctly now in the overview (as thumbnails), but as soon as I double click them to see a larger version, I am back to the raw file.

Mario

You say that the versions are detected correctly.
Does the RAW file use a JPEG version proxy in the File Window?
Does the visual proxy show in the Version panel? You can choose that from the right-click context menu.

If this is the case, the Viewer will also show the visual proxy.
Make sure you have enabled the display of visual proxies in the Viewer.
Right-click and then enable the Display Options > Toggle Visual Proxy. Or press <T> followed by <X>

See also the IMatch help for details.

The "toggle Visual Proxy" did it. Thanks for walking me through this.

I am a bit confused since a couple of days.

In my database I've set up versions for Canon raw (CRW en CR2). Version are detected correctly. Also these version are set up as Visual proxy ('as visual' is checked in the preferences for file relations) and the visual proxies (jpg) do show up in the file window, the viewer and the slide show, all as expected. 'Toggle visual proxy' also works as expected here.

But how can I see the original raw file? Until a couple of days (or versions?) ago I could see that raw file when I selected a version stack and showed all versions (F4,S). The raw file (in its original unedited form) and the versions (edited jpg's) below the raw files. But for some peculiar reason, that is no longer the case. Both the unedited raw file (master) as the jpg file (version) are shown in exactly the same way: as the jpg file.

Some questions/thoughts:
  • could this have anything to do with the removal of the toggle function in the rating?
  • what is actually the difference between 'as shown' and 'Version Stack Visual')

By the way: I restarted IMatch: no change. Then rebooted my computer and restarted IMAtch: also no change.

Right-click in the Versions Panel and in the menu toggle the "Show Visual Proxy". Or press <P> while the Version Panel has the focus.
