I'm doing some database housekeeping over Christmas...
What defines unassigned files?
I have (only a few) files which have hierarchical keywords and also "old style" categories. They are showing up in Categories under "unassigned files". I'm trying to figure out why. As I say its only a few,...

Ideas?

Thanks,
Aubrey.

Check the Functions and Keywords section of the Category Formulas page in Help.

Basically it says.....

Unassigned shows all files not assigned to any direct category, direct meaning standard IMatch categories (not @keywords, formulas or data-driven categories).

Uncategorized shows all files not assigned to any category of any type.

Entering the word unassigned into the search box in the IMatch help leads to:

Category Formulas: Functions and Keywords

which should answer your question. If you use the two standard categories IMatch creates when the database is created and you refer to these categories in your question.

John, Mario,
Thanks for your help.
FYI I resolved the issue - these files only had hierarchical keywords not categories.
Thanks,
Aubrey.

The Current tab in the Categories Panel and the special File Categories Panel can show you this in no time.
You can immediately see the categories of a file, which are direct assigned (if any), which are assigned via formulas or data-driven categories.
