Prohibit PHP files

The folder under consideration, has 36 files, of which 28 are of type .php.  I don't want to see these files, so I disable them under File Formats in the preferences.  Then I rescanned the folder, but that didn't remove those php files from the database.  I find that I can just set a File Format global filter to suppress Program Code File Formats, but why isn't IMatch just removing those files from the database, after I disabled them in the indexing?

Because you disabled them after they already added. IMatch does not throw files out of the database when you make modifications on file formats afterwards.

Just use the "Remove from Database" command to remove these files.
Maybe you should not keep PHP source code files in the same folders you use for your image collection?
Mixing manged (in IMatch) and unmanaged files in the same folders always carries the risk of accidental data loss.

95% of the time, that is the case that I wouldn't mix such file types in a folder.  But at a time like this, it's because I indexed a folder that was where I saved a web page, and those php files happened to be part of those web pages.

On the other hand, having some PHP files in your IMatch database does no harm.
