Text overlay in viewer

When the image in viewer only covers part of the screen width, only part of the text overlay is visible - see attachment.  When zoomed in cover the whole screen, the complete overlay becomes visible, but of course only part of the image is visible.  I cannot find in Help how to make the complete overlay visible in this situation - is there a way to do this?

This also applies to images not covering full height of the screen - e.g.panoramas.  See attached image.

Do you use an Intel graphic card in a Notebook perhaps?
This is a known clipping issue in some cheaper Intel GPUs.
Try to enable the Intel Quirks mode in Edit > Preferences > Application.

Thanks Mario.  That works.   My computer is quite high spec and the card is Intel UHD Graphics 620.  Is this cheap?

Mario

I don't know.
I know that the only GPUs which ever exhibits this bloody clipping issue are from Intel.
The glitch exists for years and I have tried many, many things to work around it. But IMatch just interfaces with DirectX, not with the graphic card directly. And IMatch just tells DirectX to render the text overlay at the specific spot. Only Intel graphic cards clip the text on the image, neither AMD nor nVIDEA do it. Not at clue.

The quirks mode forces all overlays and gadgets to move inside the area covered by the image. Since this may seem cluttered and is generally not needed (except for some/all Intel GPUs) I have linked this to the Intel quirks mode option.

I have the same problem on my laptop, just hadn't reported it because I very rarely use those overlays in the viewer.

I can't find the setting you're talking about (see attachments), but my laptop has two graphics cards, an Intel and an nVidia. Strangely enough, I never see any activity on the nVidia card (task manager) whatever configuration I try ... wondering why I spent that money on a gaming laptop when none of my applications (Photoshop, Bridge/ACR, Capture One, iMatch, ...) really takes advantage of that additional card.

That's an IMatch setting (Edit > Preferences > Application). Search for Intel in that dialog.

To enable the nVidia graphics adapter you usually use the nVidia control panel > Manage 3D settings > Preferred GPU > NVIDIA.
Sometimes you'll have to download and install the latest NVIDIA drivers to make it work. Your notebook may use old drivers or just the standard drivers shipping with Windows.
Just google for the name of your PC + nvidea + enable to find step-by-step instructions matching your device.

I use only tablets and workstation computers with multiple GPUS so I'm no expert for these hybrid devices.

I have the latest drivers and even if I tell it to use the nVidia card for Photoshop, whatever I do in Photoshop, the nVidia GPU does nothing (but the Intel GPU does show activity). The laptop isn't that old, not quite 3 years.
