Renamer malfunctioned?

I have a simple default preset to rename the last four digits of a file name in the same directory.  Carl was nice enough to help me with the profile (seen in attachment) and it has worked nicely until today.  Today, I tried to rename 40 files using the exact same profile with the same procedures and the renamer first copied the 40 files and put them in the same directory then it very efficiently renamed the duplicates.  Unfortunately, it didn't copy all the metadata from the original files leaving one field completely blank and I "didn't want duplicate files".  In addition, the system took my original files off line so although I have access to the metadata, I must manually copy and paste each missing field to the new duplicate files.  Then there is the issue of getting rid of the old original files which are now "off line".  I can re-index and update with the original Explorer Folder which now has the new file names but those files have no metadata.  So, I guess I'm in a catch 22. The only solution I see is to screen print paper copies of the old files to retain the metadata.  Then manually re-enter the metadata on the new file thumbnail after the complete folder has been re-indexed.  I labeled this issue a bug or a "malfunction" because it is not likely this is a user error.  How could I have messed this up??  The preview looked perfect.....just duplicate files!  While on the subject of bugs....,,, the rotate function is malfunctioning too.  When I click "rotate 90 degrees right" the system rotates the image 180 degrees.  The only solution is to click "reset rotation" to get the image to display properly.  Well, I never rotated the photo (within IMatch) in the first place.  It came into IMatch improperly positioned during the indexing step.  It is possible that I rotated right or left from Windows before I indexed and IMatch may not like the Windows Rotate Function?  Sorry for putting two issues in one post but if the new version of IMatch 2020.3.6 is unstable the two problems could be related.  Thank you for the time spent in my behalf!!  Hap

Your post is unreadable. It fills several pages with block text on my mobile.
Consider adding a new paragraph here and then if you want support from me or other users.

I cannot even fathom what you want to tell us.

I want to apologize to everyone for my "original unreadable post".  After rethinking it I've cleaned it up and will concentrate on doing this in the future. Here are the problems I experienced.

   1.  Renamer duplicated files in the same directory before renaming them.  (Preset profile included in attachment).
   2.  Image rotate feature performs unexpected results (i.e. rotate right click rotates image 180 degrees).  Only "reset rotation" displays the image correctly.

1.  The Renamer cannot create new files, except you use a Copy step.
It takes each file in the selection, produces the new name for the file, and then renames the existing file on disk.
If a file with the same name already exists and your steps don't allow the Renamer to produce a unique file name, the file is not renamed and a warning is logged.
Do you perhaps use file relations and buddy files, and this produces "new" files due to renaming the buddy files.

2  You rotate images with with feature in IMatch?
By the description I would say you fiddle with the EXIF orientation command? In that case note that EXIF orientation may not work as you expect.
This is not a additive operation (like, rotating an image twice by 90° rotates it by 180°).
EXIF orientation just makes how the image is to be rotated for display. There can only be one rotation operation.
What is the correct orientation for your images only you can tell.
