That may not be the right term, so let me tell you what I am trying to do. This is something I do very often in Lightroom, so hopefully, it is a preference I haven't found or another workaround.

I am somewhere deep in my hierarchy working on an image. I know there were other images shot at the same time, that have been moved elsewhere. What I would do in LR is select that image, make sure my sort order was capture time and then select the root of my hierarchy. Now all images shot at the same time are together.

When I do that with iMatch and click on the root of my hierarchy, another image is selected - I assume the last one I selected in that view/folder. What I would like to see is that as long as my first select is within the same hierarchy, for it to be selected.

I don't really understand.
In which View are you working? I assume you have enabled the hierarchical display mode in the File Window so when you go "up" in your scope, the same files  as before are (somewhere) visible in your file window?

IMatch remembers the last focused file per folder / category / collection.
So if you switch between scopes, a previous selection is no more.

Seeing files taken at the same time is usually best done in the Timeline View.
To see all files taken at the same day as the focused image, use the Goto Timeline command (via the context menu in the File Window (Additional Functions) or by using the Ctrl+Shift+G keyboard shortcut.
If you then click on the month / year level, you can see all files taken in the same month or year, as needed.

Alternatively, just bookmark your selection with <B> before switching to another scope.
Then use the "Goto Next Bookmark" command to quickly find the bookmarked file(s) again (Ctrl+Shift+B)
This way you can quickly navigate between scopes and find the same file again.

Thanks, both methods will work for me, I'll have to decide which is easier/faster.
