Time Wizard not updating file - why

I tried setting the date/time using the time wizard. On some files it says
0 files updated
Is there a way to find out why?

Mario

You set date and time using which options and settings?
Maybe the date and time has not changed? In that case the file will be skipped. IMatch will also skip files without a date and time when you use relative settings. More details needed.
Also check the log file for errors. And the app output panel, in case the TW ran into a internal problem.

It is associated with the file. If I modify or re-write the file it works.
Output says:Invalid date and time value: undefined but this is misleading because
the same setting works on the modified file.

I include the zipped jpg file - but I doubt it will reproduce the error since re-writing the file eliminates the error.

I assume there is another error which is caught but does not show the correct error message.

Mario

The output panel shows this message after you do what?
If this file does not produce the problem, it is useless. Do you have the original file which produces the behavior?
Apparently, the app tries to process and invalid timestamp, which can come from multiple sources. If the user inputs a wrong date or in a wrong format, the internal string->date conversion will fail and this is logged. It's not harmful, TW will just ignore the date and do nothing to the file. Skipping it.

The error shows in the output panel after I submit the changes.

Invalid timestamp: I use the same timestamp as with a copy of the file where the time is changed OK.

Please try the submitted file - if it shows the error then we are lucky - but since the error does not show when I make a copy
of the file I assume it will not show.

Mario

The file has no EXIF data. The GPS record is missing the GPS version id. This field is mandatory.

IMatch falls back to the file system timestamp (today). OK.
I could set a fixed date and time without problems. OK.
I could also shift the timestamp without problems. OK.

QuoteI could set a fixed date and time without problems. OK.

I expected this. The error I experience must have something to do with the file
and not the metadata.

(A thought just occurred to me: I find again and again that I can not remove or move certain files within Imatch.
Usually this is fixed by closing and re-opening Imatch. At the latest occurrence of this, closing/opening did not help. I had to delete the file
(without problem) in the explorer. Could possibly be related to this timestamp problem.)

Do you have other applications running which may lock the files? Especially virus checkers. Often the source of this type of problem.
What kind of file? RAW or JPG?
Do you have the Quick View panel open? On some systems, under some circumstances, Windows WIC sometimes locks a file for some time after it has loaded them (IMatch uses WIC to load cache images in the Quick View Panel). Close close the panel and then retry your operation.

I will look if it is quickview related the next time it happens.
Other programs and virus checker I have eliminated already.

I came across the troubled file again today and found a solution:

I forced a re-import of the file - afterwards the time wiz was able to change the time.

(Still would be good if Time Wiz would not issue the error that the format of the time is wrong).

(I checked if quickview was the problem first - was not.)

Mario

I could not produce any error with the file you've sent.
Maybe you had a problem in the past with that file and forgot about it.
Or IMatch crashed, leaving the data of the app with issues - but that would show the in the Metadata Panel of course.
Maybe an app you've used caused problems with that file.
Impossible to tell.
