Help for messed up categories

Hello,

after having changed to iMatch 2023 i changed several of my categories since i wanted to try another workflow.
I think i messed it somehow up.

Imatch frequently gets really busy. The GUI becomes slow or unresponsive for a few seconds, the focus of files changes quickly in the filewindow back and forth, my laptop fan starts working harder, ...
My laptop is quite old (>7 years) but it kinda worked until now.

Can someone tell, by looking at the log file what keeps iMatch busy?
Look at the end at around 18:05 o'clock.

Interesting:
I just found out that i can trigger this problem by activating a filter and get iMatch calm again but deactivating the filter -> I use a saved filter that "shows the rejected files only"

Thanks a lot.

I see no errors in the log and nothing is logged as unusually slow (IMatch would e.g. log categories which take too long to calculate).

But I see categories with errors (these should be marked with an error icon (Category Icons) in the Category View).

The category 'Date equals ModifiedDate' fails to calculate due to a missing dependency. Check the formula used for this category.
Such things might slow down IMatch because it may follow deep nested links without getting a result.

The category 'Checks OK probably' also fails to calculate

Many files are processed in this log file. This causes this category to constantly update, always running in the same error after a while. But the most time is spent in these two faulty categories. Fix them or remove them and probably the slow-down effect is gone.

Thank you, that was a very good hint!

I deleted the category that showed the error icon (the second faulty category was dependent on it). Now the slow responsiveness seems to be gone :-)

Thanks a lot, great service as always :-)

Good result!
Keep an eye on these warning icons for categories. IMatch displays them for a purpose.

Sometimes users create formula-based categories and then do something that breaks them.
Or users create helpful but very "slow" categories, and then wonder what pulls the performance of IMatch down.

Users can do amazing things with data-driven and formula based categories. Doing things impossible with other software.
But there is always a small risk to shoot yourself in your own foot with these features...
