Tags and templates

Hello Mario,

I tried to make a template what does a lot of work for my tags but I don't get it anymore. I made a copy of the template and stripped it until 1 change was left.
I would like to copy the value of
{File.MD.city}
into
{File.MD.XMP::iptcExt\LocationShownCity\LocationShownCity\0}
(see attachment). But, instead of filling in the value from File.MD.city} it clears File.MD.city}!

What am I doing wrong?

When you look at the shortcodes help topic you'll see that MD.city is the shortcode for  XMP::iptcExt\LocationShownCity\LocationShownCity so your template may not be doing what you think it does?

Also: the XMP::photoshop\City\City is synchronized with the XMP::iptcExt\LocationShownCity\LocationShownCity by IMatch, and vice-versa.

What are you trying to achieve?

Please don't pick random location tags. Location shown / created are structured tags with many linked elements, and also mirrored into other tags, like photoshop\city.

Use the IPTC Location layout in the Metadata Panel (and the tags used there) to manually fill location tags.

Hi Mario,

You're absolutely right! I better ask in future before experimenting things in iMatch. Besides iMatch I'm using Photo Mechanic Plus and found differences in the number of files showing after a query in both programs. I "thought" (wrong thinking!) that it has something to do with the mentioned tag.

But I made a stupid error in the query of PMP.
