I'm about to purchase imatch 2025 and upgrade from imatch 2020. I saw in the release notes that there were some specific "TO DOs" for the upgrade from 2021, but have found nothing specific for upgrading from 2020.

It this as simple as "install 2025 and you're good to go?". I always worry about land mines along the way when I do any software upgrade.

You can just install IMatch 2025. It will migrate your database and settings from IMatch 2020.
Make a backup of your database and settings before upgrading. See Backup for details.

But, keep in mind that you are making a BIG jump, from IMatch 2020 over 2021, 2023 right to 2025.
This means you have missed hundreds of smaller and larger updates, new features, changes to existing features etc. All of these are documented in detail in the release notes.

Instead of reading just the release notes of the new release, you should read all the release notes of the versions you have skipped. IMatch updates don't just include bug fixes, they often contain larger functional enhancements you want to know about, because they may allow you to work more efficiently and do things you could not do before.

I recommend you start with:

https://www.photools.com/imatch-2023-whats-new/
https://www.photools.com/imatch-2025-whats-new/

These pages provide an overview of the major enhancements in each version, with a short overview video, more details in the text and links to the release notes of the initial versions. From there you can browse the release notes of the usually 20 to 30 free updates I provide for each version.

I take pride in providing top-notch documentation for each IMatch feature and option in the IMatch Help System. This has also been changed and enhanced a lot since IMatch 2020 was current 5 years ago.

If you want information about all the new features you have missed, to figure out if they are helpful to you or not, the help system will provide you with the info you need. If not, just ask in this community.
