Sorry for the maybe dumb question - I'm still running imatch 3.6, which always worked fine for me. Now I maybe made (accidentally) some changes (?), and all the IPTC information was stored in XMP buddy files. How can I re-merge this external information into the JPEGs?

Hello Harald,

This forum is for IMatch 5. It would be best to post IMatch 3 questions on the http://ptforum.photoolsweb.com forum.

(Legacy) IPTC data is stored inside the image, and XMP data is either stored in the image (depends on the file format) or in sidecar files.
IMatch 3 by default copies changed made to legacy IPTC data (in the IMatch 3 IPTC editor) also into the XMP record associated with each file. That's normal.

Although this is a question about IMatch 3.6, people migrating to IMatch 5 have also encountered this issue.  I wrote a post about how to deal with this as part of a migration to IMatch 5.  If you're not migrating then only parts of this post will appeal to you:
