version chains in 'Version' panel

Forgive me if I have missed such a feature but...

I have some version chains set up where a raw file has a psd version, which in turn has a jpg version.   There is no direct relationship between the raw and jpg versions.

I would like to have an option to show all versions in a chain when viewing the 'Version' panel.   Is that possible?

Version chains are potentially evil and should be avoided unless really needed. If you build such things, make sure to keep ahead of potential pitfalls with your settings, metadata propagation issues, metadata propagation sequences and such. Simpler is better. I cannot test/foresee/anticipate any potential pitfall that is caused by chaining versions and then mix that with things like visual proxies, metadata propagation and such. This can reach a level of complexity that is too high to understand properly.

Just a friendly reminder  ;)

The Version panel only looks at the currently selected version set, finds the master, and shows all versions it can find. It does not attempt to recurse down version chains.

Ok, thanks for the advice.   It seemed like a good idea on its face, but given your caveats I think I'll dismantle the chain and relate all versions to the original raw master.

KISS is key. You can chain versions, it is supported. But it's up to you to keep an eye on how metadata is propagated etc. Often it's not really worth the hassle and added extra complexity.
