How I can find all photos based on certain EXIF criteria?

For example, if I need to see photos (or how many), where aperture wider, than 1/1.8 AND exposure is 1/4000 or faster?

Thanks,
Pavel

P.S. Windows 8.1, imatch 5.4.18
most photos - NEF

I use data driven categories "aperture" , "exposure" and builder.

There are several ways to do what you want to do.

You can use the Filter Panel to search for EXIF data (or any other metadata). The Value Filter  allows you to select the metadata tag you want to filter for. It shows you the values for the selected metadata tag in the current scope (whatever is in the file window). See screen shot below.

Since you want to filter for two metadata values at the same time, use two Value filters, once for the Aperture tag and one for the shutter speed tag. The filter shows you all values for these tags in the current scope. Then just pick the values you are interested in.

Note that filters work on the current scope (what you 'see' in the file window). This allows you to restrict your search to a folder (or several), a category (or several) all files on a drive or even to use the entire database.

If you have never used the Filter panel, check out the associated help topic to see what filters are, how they work etc. This is a very flexible and powerful feature.

Another alternative (if you need this often) would be a data-driven category for Aperture and one for Shutter speed. You can then find images with a given set of settings quickly in the category view. I have created a data-driven category which uses Aperture on the first level, and shutter speed on the second level. This way I can see immediately which Apertures I have used, and in combination with which shutter speeds:

This avoids searching completely.

Thank you. I'm trying to use Filter Panel and filter for Apertures and Shutter Speed.
It's working only for one of parameter. For example, it shows all photos in active File window, but with different to required/specified Shutter Speeds :o(

Hi:
To achieve what you want the easiest way is with a data driven category:
Choose the database you want to use on Media & Folders
1 - Create a data driven catagory (File1.jpg)
I called it A & S
2 - Click on the category just created and in the Properties (bellow) click on the 3 dots in front of Data-driven.
See File 2.jpg for the first level
3 - Now you should see all the apertures used in your photos.
4 - Now click again on the same category and in the Properties (bellow) click on the 3 dots in front of Data-driven.
Choose Level 2. See File 3.jpg
5 - After making all the OK's needed you should see something like File 4.
Best regards,
JRosa.

Did you try the filters panel?
I did and it works great. A value filter for 'Aperture' and one for 'Shutter Speed' is exactly what you want and takes only 5 seconds to set-up.
If you need this only once, this is the way to go.

If you need ti more often, my suggestion with the data-driven category (explained in more detail by zematima) is the way to go.
Then you can see the files matching your specific requirements directly, without the need to use the filter panel.
