[WITHDRAWN] Thesaurus: Missing language "Latin"

As I'm going to build up a Controlled Vocabulary of european birds I want to make entries in my thesaurus in latin (ancient roman language - not the encoding ;-)) with some synonyms in alternative languages. I want to mark the entries with the corresponding language.

I haven't found the latin language (with iso value "la" in the list of languages in the thesaurus editor).

Would you please expand the list of available languages with "la"?

i'm not sure that latin is a  supported language for (XMP) metadata. Do you have a reference?

And, frankly, working with languages in the thesaurus is not really supported. I had great plans for that, after reading about multi-language support in XMP. The problem is. most applications out there don't handle anything that's not written in the "neutral" language. Some applications even silently strip out (remove!) XMP metadata that has a non-neutral language (or a non-"en" language tag).

It's again a bit of a mess out there. Be very careful and check all the software you use now (and in the years to come) if they can handle XMP metadata in non-neutral languages before you start working with non-neutral languages in IMatch and the IMatch thesaurus. Most scientific users just enter their taxonomies as "neutral" anyway. Maybe in 10 years when all software has catched up and even the large U.S. vendors recognize that there are non-English languages, things will look brighter.

I can remember that, Mario.
You made some good things with languages, but had to taken it back, because the other applications, what does finally not really support different languages.
I went with "Neutral" then and so far no problems.

Althought the world nowadays is digital and we think, very quickly, and it is sometimes quickly, but with standards or such things, the world goes so slowly round as ever.

Like for example iptc, what is still today a lot in use.

I don't have - I just referenced to a list with iso-abbreviations for languages and thought your list misses latin ...

What a pity .... I was very enthusiastic about this - but it seems I've been to optimistic ...

You seem to be much too optimistic here - looking at the approval a completely U.S. centered president candidate currently gets all over the States.... Hopefully he fails election ...
