Usability request - rescan, full rescan, key shortcuts

Based on my experiences with various rescan variants I would like to suggest a little usability enhancement.

Currently there is a menu option "Rescan files" and three shortcuts: F5, Ctrl+F5 and Ctrl+Shift+F5.
What I find confusing is that

  • The simplest variant (F5) starts the rescan operation immediately, without any user interaction or possibility to step back or modify the rescan behaviour.
  • A dialog box offering some options is displayed only after selecting one of the more advanced shortcuts. So, to run any of the more advanced actions a user has to be "power user" knowing how to use keyboard shortcuts already.

I think it would be beneficial for a user to make sure that:

  • Selecting "Rescan..." from the menu will display a dialog box offering an option to step back at least.
  • Once the dialog box is displayed, the user would have a possibility to run the default rescan action or choose one of the advanced options.
  • The keyboard modifiers would enable power users to bypass the dialog box and run advanced options immediately.

Rescan is the only option you will ever need. If at all. IMatch usually picks up changed files automatically.

The "force update" or "reload metadata" commands only exist for very special circumstances.
Not worth any further effort or screen space.
And definitely not worth confusing users by bringing up extra dialog when all they want to do is a quick <F5> to bring in changed files now.
