GPS data not recognized in 5D MK iv CR2 files

I have been processing the first batch of files from my new 5D MK iv and Imatch is not recognizing the gps data in the CR2 file.  If I process the RAW files in Capture one and create jpg files Imatch can see the gps coordinates in these files and I had no issues previously with embedded GPS coordinates in RAW files from my 5D MK iii.  Looking at the metadata panel the gps information is there but I have no globe symbol for the RAW images and they are not recognized in the map panel.   Does anyone have any ideas how to solve this?

IMatch extracts metadata from files using ExifTool.

IMatch and ExifTool recognize GPS data both in EXIF GPS records embedded in RAW files and also in the corresponding GPS records in XMP files.
And that for a wide range of file formats and GPS variants.

How does the GPS data enter your files?
Written by the camera?
3rd party software?
Track file import?

Where is the GPS data stored? In the EXIF GPS record in your file? In a XMP sidecar file?
Do you perhaps have both and the XMP GPS data is empty and thus overrides the EXIF GPS data?

I don't recall a similar problem report ever.
IMatch processes GPS data in files just fine, and GPS data written by IMatch is recognized by all other applications.

As always in such cases, guessing will not help.
Please provide a sample file somewhere so we can see what the problem is with your files.
If you have no cloud space, you can send the file to my support email address: https://www.photools.com/support

Hi Mario,

I am not sure if will work as I haven't tried this before  but I have placed two images in the dropbox location below

https://www.dropbox.com/sh/i6njlzo0h4k8md6/AABpdwqUW0J-hYng4rT5AITza?dl=0

One image was taken with a 5D Mkiii with the add on gps unit and this works as expected in Imatch i.e. I get the globe, it is located in the map view and I can reverse Geocode the 5D Mk iv had the internal gps turned on but the gps data is not recognized in Imatch.

Hopefully there is a simple explanation why and probably something I have done.

For information both images present no issues in other programs such as  Geosetter or Canons own utility.

Regards

A quick look with ExifTool shows that the file "_D2A7242.CR2" has only one GPS field:

GPS Version ID                  : 2.3.0.0

I cannot see any other GPS data in that file.

In the attachment below you see all the data in the file.

I wonder how GeoSetter or whatever you have used can come up with GPS data for this file. There is none.
Or do you have an XMP sidecar file as well for this file?
Or a track log file in the same folder (from which GeoSetter may 'silently' import the data)?

These are two files straight out of the camera and both files have gps data written directly by the camera.  I normally import using Downloader pro however I do not touch the gps data prior to Imatch and _D2A7242.cr2 was a backup file upon import and has not been touched by any application.  To ensure there was no influence from Downloader pro I deliberately moved untouched copies of the images to a new folder location so there are definitely no xmp files associated with either image at the point I imported them into Imatch.  In both cases I can see gps data in the metadata panel in Imatch the only difference I can see here is there appears to be more data in the 5D Mkiii gps fields.

QuoteIn both cases I can see gps data in the metadata panel in Imatch

Then there is no problem anymore?

I can only explain what I see in the files you have sent. And the one file has GPS data, the other has not.

The original issue I had was that I could always see the data for both files but it was not allowing me to reverse geocode 5D Mk iv files only 5D Mk iii and I had no globe symbol for the 5D Mk iv files even though they contained gps data which could be seen in the metadata panel.

I have just reinstalled IMatch as I had to replace my motherboard a few days ago and wondered if a reinstall would fix the issue.  After reinstalling I deleted the folders containing 5D Mk iv from the database and added them back in again.  This appears to have solved the issue so I am not sure how but the issue is now solved.  Thank you for the assistance.

The orignal issue
