Capture one EIP files no thumbnail.

I'm playing with Capture One.
Should I have an image in the thumbnail of an eip file?

When I look in Windeows explorer there is a thumbnail, but not in IMatch.

I have FPV codec installed
I've perfromed a force update

Attached are the WIC diagnostics.

First part says all is OK but then second part has the comment, not sure what this means:

What does IMatch show for this image? The application icon? A black thumbnail?
Please attach a sample file, I have never heard about EIP files before.

Is this the Capture one logo?
Did you try to force a reload of the file using <Shift>+<Ctrl>+<F5>?
Do you use a 64 or 32 bit version of IMatch? And of Capture Pro?

I understood by "not recommended for use by catalogs" to be within the C1 catalog

No big deal, I don't like not being able to store changes within the file in C1   - I simply wondered if it was supported.

Do not look at the elite version + filmpack. Otherwise you might be forced to buy it like me, because of Prime, Finecontrast and other stuff. It does not exist. :-)
This is clever marketing. Put the essential out for free to attract, and tell later "hey there is this feature and that to buy additionally". Like micro transactions in games.

The EIP file is a ZIP file. It contains a copy of the original RAW file, plus a bunch of C1 manifest files and settings.
This is not a format supported by WIC or LibRaw.

To support it, IMatch would have to find and extract the embedded RAW, extract it to a temporary file, hand it over to WIC/LibRaw and use the result as the thumbnail.
Not hard to do. IMatch does similar things for OpenOffice and Office.
I don't know how much demand this is. Such proprietary formats are always critical because there is no format specification, the format can change with any version of C1, I don't know if this can only contain one RAW or multiple (now or later) etc. Probably a maintenance hell in the waiting.

If you want extended support for this proprietary format, please add a feature request. We'll see how many other users would be interested.

I'm not concerned I simply wanted to bring the file type to your attention, in the event it should be generating a thumbnail; I didn't particularly like Capture One...

I am enjoying working with trial of DXO, looks like well thought out software, but if one purchases all the modules it works out significantly more than LR!  I'm quite impressed by what the viewpoint plug-in (but an additional 49 Euros) can do.

After processing, the DNG file drops nicely back into Imatch for versioning.

Needless to say I have ignored their catalogue, it looks rather primitive after IMatch

Yes, Aubrey, I understand this too, like you.
For me it is astonishing, introduce a new "zip"-format, but on the other hand not recommand it using for the own catalog.

C1 only needs this because they create sub-folders and need several external files to maintain metadata and settings for each RAW file.

Since this seems to complicate things for their users (when transferring files or giving a project to other C1 users) they invented the EIF format which is a renamed ZIP which packs the original RAW and all the little setting files C1 needs.

Looking at the settings files, I would say that the same could be achieved by storing this information in the XMP record.
Lr does that, it stores settings in a custom XMP namespace.

But the C1 programmers surely have a reason for this. Maybe they will manage multiple images one per EIF or day or whatever. Proprietary container formats are en-vogue  currently (look at HEIF, which seems to have more patented parts than a smart phone...)

correct. Its so because EIP format is portable file with all things C1 need to edit RAW file. Cataloging portable files make no sense.
