Hi,
Suddenly without changing anything iMatch didn't start up, but keeps hanging in the screen (see screenshot attached) of initialising the userinterface.
I updated iMatch to the most recent version, but it didn't make a difference. Anyone the solution?
Thanks in advance,

Kars

Mario

1. Please make sure that your Virus Checker is not blocking IMatch or ExifTool.exe in the IMatch Program Files Folder.
2. Open the TEMP folder on your system and locate the IMATCH_LOG.tx file. ZIP and attach to your reply. This will show us what IMatch is doing.

Dear Mario,

Thanks for the quick response.

I have excluded the Photools directorie from my virus scanner. I have searched for the logfile, but can't find it.
I have used the search option on *IMatch_log* on *log*.*, *log*.zip, and more, but no results.

Sorry, my bad. Typo.

The name of the log file is IMATCH6_LOG.TXT

See the IMatch help system on the term log file  for details about the name of the log file, where to find it, what to do with it.

Ah, thanks, now I have found it.
I'll attach it, because I can't open IMatch, so I can't get to the help system :-)

Mario

You can open the IMatch help system like any other help file via the Start menu. Just search for IMatch.

Your log file looks normal. No errors or unusual warnings.
The database appears to be rather slow, it takes 70 seconds (!) to load the database. This is quite slow, even for a 200,000 files database. Is C: your fastest disk?

The log file ends somewhere while IMatch is starting up the embedded web server.

This looks like a virus checker or something else is stopping IMatch dead in the water. IMatch starting an embedded web server and opening a port may trigger a virus checker. Check the log file of whatever VC product you use to see if this is acting up. We had a similar case just this morning...

Dear Mario,

Problem solved. First time took quite long to load interface data, but now no problems anymore. I have adpated the virus scanner not to scan the Photools directory.

Cheers,

Kars

Very good  :)
Add the entire folder containing your database as an exception in your anti-virus. This may speed up your system.

Since your database takes 70 seconds to load (normal would be 10 to 20 seconds from a SSD) I recommend you delete all data-driven categories you don't use or set them to manual. On slower disks data-driven categories can take a long time to update for a 200,000 files database, causing sluggish performance.
