IMatch 5 is looking to become a real powerhouse!

One thing that I immediately missed from IMatch3, however, is to be able to double-click on a file and get the whole folder or category (basically, all visible files) in slideshow / filmstrip view. In IM5 I have to press Ctrl+A to select all first. I'd like for IMatch, if only one file is selected when the viewer opens, that all files are automatically added to the viewer.

I also would like to the see it working like this...

The slide show operates on all files when only one file is selected. It is by default linked to the double-click. Same behavior as in IMatch 3.
The Viewer always operates on the current selection and can be launched with <Ctrl>+Double-click.

I could change the behavior of the Viewer to come up with all files in the current scope if only one file is selected.
But it is more likely that a user really wants to review a single file when one is selected. And if the user happens to be in a large scope at the time (e.g. an entire disk or even the entire database), loading all these files into the Viewer will be not a good idea.

So I will have to add a prompt where the user can choose "show all / only selected" in this case. And a way to make this the default and skip the prompt in the future. Naturally users will need an option to re-activate the prompt so they can return to the default value. And I will need to add a message explaining how they can re-activate the default behavior when they choose to skip the "show all / only selected" prompt.
And since users are lazy, I will need to add an additional warning when the user is in a very large scope and launches the Viewer with only one file selected to warn him that bringing 30,000 files into the Viewer may be not a good idea...

Hi,

I like the slideshow as it is now, so as Mario explained. If there should be a new selection-function, please put in the settings.
I have set the slideshow to non-automatic-start. I doubble-click without selection on one pic and then I can manually switch through them ... that's fine!

I have added an option under Edit > Preferences > Application: Viewer which allows users to configure how the Viewer behaves when only one file is selected. The new default is now "Use all files in current scope" so it will work like the slide show when only one file is selected.
If a user does not like this behavior, he can disable it and then the Viewer will only open with the single selected file again.
