Dual, Simultaneous Icon Tagging

Like many of us, we process our images. Sometimes many, sometimes few. I would like to tag my processed RAW images with a colored pin or dot, to indicate that it has been indeed processed. And at the same time tag the processed image, usually a JPEG, to indicate it is a processed image.

The best way I think to achieve this would be to work backwards, as all my processed images are filed in a MODIFIED child folder below the parent folder containing all RAW images from a particular shoot.

If I open the MODIFIED folder and tag all these images with say a red dot, how can I set iMatch to simultaneously tag the RAW image in the parent folder with say a blue dot?

I assume, and one should never assume, that this would be accomplished with variables, but without a heads-up, I'm totally lost with nowhere to begin.

Thank you

... and I forgot to state that both images have the same name, as unless used elsewhere, the RAW image and the JPEG image retain the same camera issued file name.

If you use Master/Version relationships, you should be able to tell which images have been processed (i.e., only the processed images will have this relationship).

Also, depending on your raw processor, the jpg output images should contain a 'software' tag (use the Browser metadata template and search for 'software'. It's true that this doesn't ID the raw files, but it might be useful.

If you use a file version rule that makes your RAW a master and your JPEG a version, you can tell by looking at the master if a version exists (only then the master will show the master icon in the File Window panel).
And the version will also show you that it is a version and you can easily locate the master. This is usually a clear-enough indicator. No need to use additional dots or anything.

The master and version will also show up in the corresponding collection in the Collection View, which makes it easy to find all your masters and versions.

I'm having a bit of a struggle with this one. I can't seem to retrieve a positive response.

The Link Expression in my Preferences>File Relations is very similar to the one shown here https://www.photools.com/help/imatch/#rel_config.htm except mine is ....(jpg|jpeg|dng|tif)$

When I select a database parent folder containing NEF files and its inclusive child folder containing processed JPG files, the Test Expressions returns a positive match for the Version Filename but a No Match for the Master Filename.

There is obviously something I am overlooking. I haven't given up but it becomes a little frustrating.

I can also envisage a possible problem a little further into my work. My database will eventually contain both Nikon and Canon file formats. Can the Master Expression contain a combination of NEF and CR2 extensions, and if it doesn't permit, what will happen to my existing Versions if/when I change the Master Extension from NEF to CR2? In other words, is it global or relative to each individual folder.

Thank you
Rob.

Show us your master, replace and version expression. Screen shot of the dialog (Using Windows Key + Print).
Show us a master and version file name, and the folder layout you use.

You define one master-version rule for CR2 and another for your NEF files. And any other combination you need.
