iMatch changes not being picked up by Capture One

I use iMatch to catalogue all of my images.

I notice that if I make a change, such as, to the metadata in iMatch it isn't being read by Capture One.

Is this normal or have I missed a setting somewhere?

Any advice would be gratefully received.

Have you written back the metadata in IMatch?

IMatch, for performance reasons, does not immediately write changes done to metadata back to the original image and/or XMP sidecar file.

New imatch user but had the same problem. Now I'm up to speed on the imatch write back but as I recall, I had to go into cap 1 preferences and tell it to utilize the xmp sidecar file before it would pick up the metadata......

Mario

Not sure what you mean by that... ???
IMatch automatically reads XMP sidecar files. That's automatic.

Immediate write-back is off by default, because it can be a major performance drag. Only when you are working on the same files in both IMatch and your image editor, immediate write-back may be helpful. But experience tells, there may be issues when you work with multiple applications on your metadata. Not all applications are up tot he high standards of IMatch or properly synchronize metadata between IPTC, EXIF, GPS and XMP. And you may end up with only half-way synchronized metadata, which is something you want to avoid. So, check the metadata produced by your other application carefully.

I think the OP is referring to not seeing the metadata changes in Capture One... ie: IM is writing back the metadata to the XMP - but you need to tell C1 where to find the metadata (ie: sidecar file).  IM is working correctly but an extra step is needed in C1 to see the data there.

Mario

This may be the case, I have no idea of how C1 works with metadata. Usually applications are supposed to detect changes in files and to bring in the changes. In Lr you have also have to do it explicitly. Lr indicates that the file has changed but does not re-import it automatically.
