I'm not sure if this is going to help anyone, but I've been battling getting thumbnails of the RAW files to display the correct orientation in iMatch whilst I try it out.  Being a (maybe ex) Lightroom user I've always converted my NEF files to DNG.  They have always (and continue to) display correctly in every other photo application I have.  Just in iMatch they would not rotate despite the EXIF data being correct in iMatch and Metadata++.  I've followed many of the solutions on these boards with no luck.

I've re-read everything on the various posts and concluded that there is something, probably in the order that various applications have installed the various Codecs, that iMatch does not like.  I can't find a way to manage the installed Codecs as it seems like a dark art!
However, in my case, I downloaded an old Adobe DNG Codec (V2 from many years ago), installed it yesterday and the WIC diagnostics looked much better.  And behold, with a forced rescan, the thumbnails are the right way round.

One other place that people should look with todays anti-malware applications, is the blocking of the EXIFTool in accessing the photo directories.  But fundamentally it was the Codec that cured the issue.

I hope this helps point others to a solution to their rotation issues and I look forward to moving from a (very frustrated) trial user to a fully fledged member of the community.

DNG usually makes no problems at all. I have used Lr for years and never had any problems.

Which Windows version do you use and which WIC codecs do you have installed? The standard W10 codecs? FPV codecs? The new https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/p/raw-image-extension/9nctdw2w1bh8?activetab=pivot:overviewtab from Microsoft?

WIC does not allow an application to 'pick' a codec. Basically IMatch asks Windows WIC to load an image file. The only possible option is to specify a 'preferred codec vendor' as a parameter, but the documentation is minimal and have never got it to work.
