Phantom Annotation

When I go to the collections panel, there is one file shown as having a polyline annotation. But, when I look at the file in the viewer, there are only three face annotations. How can I find this polyline annotation and delete it?

A polyline is not a face annotation. IMatch has many different annotation types.
With Ctrl+A you can select all annotations and remove them. Maybe you have created a polyline accidentally, on a separate layer?

I'm sure I created the polyline accidentally. I just can't figure out how to get rid of it. Ctrl+A selects the three face annotations, but not the polyline.

Never mind. I got rid of it. I had to delete the three face annotations, and then do Ctrl+A and delete again.

Okay, so clearly I accidentally created a second annotations layer.  But that brings up another question. Is there anyway to see a list of annotation layers in a file? If I search for "layer" in the help, it only brings up to short paragraphs in the Annotations section, which don't really explain anything about how to use layers.

When you open the annotation panel with T,A you see all layers. You can switch between layers and Ctrl+A to select all annotations.
Issues like invisible annotations or annotations being moved outside the visible area in the Viewer (note: You can always zoom out to bring them into view) are rather rare.

You can find files with specific annotations using the corresponding Collections.
You can filter for files with specific annotations using the Collection Filter.
The {File.Annotations} variable returns a list of all annotations: List of File Variables

That's not what I'm seeing. When I open the annotations panel, I see only the last selected layer.

The annotation panel lists all layers right at the top. By default, there is one layer. If you work with Face Annotations, there is usually a second layer.

As an experiment, I added three layers with annotations to a photo. The annotation panel only shows me one layer. I can change which layer it shows me by clicking on an annotation in a different layer, but the annotation panel only ever shows me one layer with no indication that there are multiple layers.

Have you created an additional layer? And how?

Yes, I created three layers, using the button with the green + at the top of the annotations panel.

Okay, I just figured out what was wrong. The panel that shows the layer details was pushed up against the menu bar at the top, covering up the list of layers. I didn't even realize that was something that could be moved.
