Is there a way to see the thumbnails as in the image on the left?
The idea is to remove the gray area between the thumnails.

Mario

No. The display on the left is only possible when IMatch would crop the images in either the horizontal or vertical axis to "fill" the square thumbnail area.
IMatch does not do that. You would miss part of the image and there would be no difference between portrait and landscape images.

I know imatch is very configurable. What is the best configuration to have less gray areas and more image?

Will the option of making the crop be possible in future versions?
This screenshot on the left was one of the sneak peak ideas from imatch 2020 (https://www.photools.com/community/index.php?topic=8999.0).

Was the idea discarded?

Thanks

IMatch uses square thumbnails. So there will always be some free space top/bottom or left/right, unless you use square image formats.
This if of course more prominent when you use a layout without any icons or text.
