Is there a way to achieve what Numpad * (or Ctrl Numpad *) does (expand/collapse tree)?

I could not find one. And since my laptop does not have a Numpad I would like an alternative key

Mario

These keyboard shortcuts are not implemented by IMatch but by Windows. If Windows does not offer an alternative, there is none.

Could you not use an external plug-in Numpad?  Better still a programmable keypad where you can program the keys to whatever shortcuts you want.

Use the onscreen keyboard: Windows logo key + Ctrl + O  -> options button -> turn on numeric keypad... then, click and enjoy!

I might have an elegant solution for this for the next release.
Or, more business-thinking, I might postpone this to IMatch 2021 - maybe this creates an extra update purchase or two.
Decisions, decisions...

See release note 1305 on https://www.photools.com/release-notes/
That will be great - at present I have a workspace with all panels collapsed, which works fine, but this will be quicker.

This does not collapse panels. It expands or collapses elements in tree controls, e.g. the Media & Folders tree or the Category tree.
To show/hide all docked panels, use <F9>,<Backspace>. See Keyboard Cheat Sheet
