Just a short note, nothing to do, simply a remark:

Yesterday (28.Feb) I made 300 images from persons, all fine.
In the night Windows 11 updated to a new version or what else, at least, they had written, some new features and apps.

Well, ok.

Today (1.of the new month) I took again 300 images from persons, with the same camera (Nikon D750), the same 2 flash-lights and I hold the cam always the same way (no stativ, I do not like this), means vertical (hochkant).

Well, the first session on the last february, all is fine.
But today, all from march are not vertical, but lay horizontally (wrong).

Well, I praise the virtual rotation, (usually I do not use it) this I will do now, because I have to cull them and if had to rotatate my head, this is very difficult  ;D 8)

Are you using WIC codecs from Microsoft or the WIC codec from Nikon (https://downloadcenter.nikonimglib.com/de/download/sw/203.html)

If you use the Microsoft WIC codec and they updated and broke it (?) try switching IMatch to using LibRaw under Edit > Preferences > Application: Favor photools.com RAW processing.

Then Shift+Ctrl+F5 a few or the wrongly rotated files (after removing the virtual rotation) and see if this fixes the problem.

You can also send me one of the RAW files (support email address) and I can check here if I have the same problem.

Thanks, Mario, for your input!  :)

I write this, because I wait for finishing the propagation from Raw (nef) to tif.

I will check, what you have wrote, if I cannot get solve this, I could send you a pic, but the problem is, they are raws (30MB).

It is not that important, it made me only a bit nervous, because I have to deliver a lot of pics in some hours. No playing football this evening for me.  :(

But, your virtual rotating saved me!  :)

Best wishes from Switzerland! :-)

30MB is a bit much for email, but you can try.
Else, upload an image to your cloud space and send me a link. I would like to see if this problem also happens on one of my PC's.

:)
Best wishes from Switzerland! :-)

Datei ist angekommen. Danke.
Bei mir ist die Datei auch falsch rotiert. Mit photools.com RAW processing wird die Datei richtig rotiert.

I've looked into this a bit deeper over the weekend.
It seems that the 3rd party image library I use by default to deal with WIC/RAW does not handle the orientation in the NEF file you've provided correctly - for some reason. No idea, really.

Luckily, I have developed my own photools.com D2D (Direct2D) library and I just made an exception for NEF/NRW files to be processed via my library now. This solves the orientation problem with the file just nicely. I will ship this change with IMatch 2023.

I've developed this library to directly deal with Direct2D (which is rather complicated and specialized, unfortunately) to reduce dependencies from 3rd party tools and libraries. It's not always possible, but I try to implement things myself and have the code under my control.

In the mean time, switching to LibRaw by enabling the "Use photools.com RAW Processing" option in Edit > Preferences > Application will solve the problem too.

Thanks a lot, Mario, looking so quickly into this.
I am happy, that you could create a solution.

Until IMatch 2023 is out  :D I will do, what you have written!

Best wishes from Switzerland! :-)
