Adding pictures from iPhone 14 pro strips off Metadata

Hi Mario,
I noticed another strange behaviour with IMatch 2023: When I add pictures from my iPhone (14 pro) all metadata are stripped off, the date is set to 30.12.1899 and a yellow warning triangle shows up in the file window saying "reading error for metadata". This is not the case with all iPhone 14 files which have been added under IMatch 2021 and also when I now add files from my older iPhones (SE or 5S) with IMatch 2023 there is not such a problem. I import the files by adding the JPGs (not HEIC) by Windows explorer to the folder in the IMatch database).

Actually, the metadata are not stripped off (the files remain untouched), but they are not displayed in iMatch anymore. And, that is also true for the HEIC files from the same iPhone since today (just tested).

Quoteyellow warning triangle shows up in the file window saying "reading error for metadata".
This means ExifTool has reported a problem with the file. Or IMatch with the handling.
You did not provide a sample image for testing and neither the IMatch log file (log file) from the session or what ExifTool has probably logged to the Output Panel when it tried to read metadata from your file so I have literally nothing to work with.
IMatch ships with the latest ExifTool version, so maybe something has changes...?

I have now found one (!) sample DNG file for the IPhone and will add it to my test queue. I'll let you know when I find something out.

The problem seems to be that the XMP produced by ExifTool for my sample iPhone 14 image is invalid.
Some of the names produced are invalid names for XMP.

I'll contact Phil and let him know.
There is nothing I can do from IMatch's side as far as I can tell.

Update.
Phil could reproduce the problem and will provide a fix with ExifTool 12.64. No release date yet.

This problem has been resolved with ExifTool version 12.64 released yesterday.
I will include this version in the upcoming 2013.1.14 release.

Hi Mario,

yes, indeed. Problem has been solved and iPhone 14 files now handle metadata correctly again. Thanks a lot for your support (and best regards to Phil).
