Folder with 100 Raw files and moff+modd files from a Sony camera
All files were rated with the Sony Viewer program on the SD card and then imported with the Sony software onto the PC
Imatch correctly showed all ratings.
Then I copied some metadata from one of the 100 files rated 4 stars to 99 other images rated 1-4 stars,  In the "Paste Attributes and Fata", the only fields checked were GPS, Location, and XMP Data without Rating/Label/Color.  The Paste operation took some time.

Observed behavior: Afterwards, all files except the ones rated 4 stars lost their rating.  They have no rating at all.
Expected behavior: all ratings retained.

I assume you used the Copy/Paste Attributes command, which uses ExifTool to directly copy metadata between files.

Note that the powerful Copy/Paste feature in the Metadata Panel introduced in IMatch 2023 a year ago has replaced Copy Attributes for many use cases.

Maybe this is a side effect or a change in ExifTool wipes the rating if it is not copied in the process. I have no idea at the moment. I have not used or worked on this feature for a long time and I need to run some tests.

Basically IMatch tells ExifTool to copy XMP sans rating/label if you enable this option. This should retain the existing rating/label in the target file. Maybe it does no longer, some reason...very strange.
