IO am in the process of mopving from Picasa to IMatch (and DXO Photolab). Picasa stores the original raw image files (after processing) in a subfolder called .picasaoriginals. I find, in IMatch, that this is not listed in the Media and Folders list. Is there a way to get IMatch to list all subfolders? I have unticked hide hidden folders and Files, but this didn't make any difference...

Thanks!

Mario

Hi, Andy

IMatch by default indexes the folders you add to your database and all sub-folders recursively.
The exception are folders marked as hidden or system or folders matching the exclusion mask accessible via Edit menu > Preferences > Indexing.

If the . picasaoriginals folders are marked as hidden or system in the file system, they are excluded unless you disable the "Skip hidden or system folders". If the files in the folder are marked as hidden or system, they are skipped unless you disable the corresponding option on that tab.

Changing these options applies to future folder scans.
If the parent folders of the .picasaoriginals are already in the database, you need to select them in the Media & Folders View and press <Shift>+<F5> to force a rescan. The hidden folders should now show up in the Media & Folders View.

If you have deeper folder hierarchies, select the top-level folder and press <Shift>+<F5> to rescan it and all sub-folders to add the hidden folders to your database.

Note that, usually, hidden folders are hidden for a purpose. If the folder hierarchy you manage in IMatch has no other "real" hidden folders, you're probably OK disabling the "Skip hidden or system folders".
Otherwise, consider removing the hidden attribute from the .picasaoriginals folders and then rescan the folder hierarchy with <Shift>+<F5> to add them to the database.

I have no idea why Picasa decided to move original (and important) RAW files into folders hidden in the file system.
Such strange decisions always cause trouble in the end, e.g. when you move to other software.
