transfer user settings from "windows user" to User name Alias?

I have been using only iMatch on one computer, but now I'm going to use it on an extra. I have all my settings, Metadata templates, Favorites Locations etc. on my "windows" (blank user). Now if I create an alias to make it easier to switch between 2 computers, I loose all my setup.
I've been searching through the posts here, but might have missed the obvious - is it possible to transition to a User name alias and import/keep all my setup?
Or do I have to redo the setup that is "user" dependent?

Did you read User Name Alias
If you switch from Peter on PC A to Tom on  PC B, set the Alias to "Peter" on PC B.
Machine-specific settings never transfer.

Also follow the detailed steps in Installing IMatch on a New Computer which explains about the Alias and also how to transfer all other settings, presets and data.

Thank you, I did and maybe I'm just not understanding it. I have a setup where I do not use a user alias, In preparation to transfer to another machine it's easier using a user alias because then all user settings are installed. But as my setup is "blank" that is Windows user, when I try to enter an user alias, all my settings from my "blank" user are (of course) lost and I have to start over. So in short I want to "clone" all my user setup that I've done on "blank" user alias to the one I'm setting up to use going forward. That I cannot read out from the instructions, maybe I'm completely missing the point :-)

This is not how this works.

Usually, the user name Alias in the settings is empty. This means that all settings are saved on your user name / log-in name. This is the default behavior.

When you now switch to another computer and you use a different user name on the new PC, all your user-specific settings are lost. This is where the Alias comes in. It allows you to tell IMatch to use the settings of your previous user name on the new system.

You don't enter the Alias on the existing (old) computer, but on the new computer.
If you enter an Alias on the old computer, all settings associated with the log-in user on that computer would of course no longer be accessible, because IMatch now users the Alias to load and save settings.

Thank you. As I then understand it, I'll have to use the "user name" which is behind the "blank" alias on the main(existing) computer, which would be the user that logs into the computer. Then take that computer user name and use as the alias on the second computer, then the settings are carried over?

Mario

I don't follow.

When you move your IMatch installation to a new computer, and on this computer you have a different user name, you enter the user name from the previous computer as the Alias on the new computer.
