As usual download and installation went smooth as silk.
I guess by now we would be surprised if there was some hick-up here  ;)

The database converter bug seems to be solved on my machine, with the small test database.
Next test is to convert the "life" database (a copy of that DB, on a copy of the images).

Thanks Mario!
Enjoy!

Herman.

Mario

Sounds good! Thanks for the feedback.

Good luck with the conversion. I test-converted 14 databases today (all sent in by testers) with successful outcomes.

I think one of this was my DB
Now I have files and categories  ;D

Thanks

For completeness' sake: my "real" database converted fine.

Seems like another milestone for IM5 to me  :)
Enjoy!

Herman.

Ferdinand

My small test DB converted fine, but I guess you already knew that.  Thanks!   ;D

Definitely! Writing a tool which handles all IMatch databases created since 2006, with more than 30 updates, thousands of different configuration possibilities etc. was quite a challenge. Which is why I did it so late in the Beta test.

And why there are so many log files, protocols and stuff. I expected (and still do) problems with a (hopefully) small percentage of existing IMatch 3 databases. But even in the worst case (total fail of the database converter for a specific IMatch database) we have a second migration path using manual export/import of categories and properties. Less comfortable and automatic but still doable in a worst case.

The database I was having issues with in 128 converted fine in 130 - Thanks Mario.

I'm going to try conversion of my complete database - I'll report back time taken and size.

Aubrey.

Aubrey

Runtime 4:50
32501 files.
   730 folders.
22262 images are NEF from D300 (a few from a D80)

Aubrey.

PS: I'm ready to order IMatch5, looks like its doing all I need now!   ;D

Mario

Very well. Put the money at a safe and warm place. I'll ask for it when it's time

Did you by change keep the converter log files? I'd like to see the performance data.

Mario:

If you want some performance data on the converter let me know.  I think it ran like a racehorse!  I had 39,000 images and it ran in 2 hours and 14 minutes.

I think that's great!

My money is waiting for you!

The converter logs would be cool, but about 20,000 files per hour is pretty good already.
Since users need to run it only once (assuming that it works), even running it over night would be acceptable for users with very large databases (200,000+ files).
